We hope this finds you each enjoying and celebrating many victories over your battle with food this week. It is a battle, isn't it? No one who has ever been overweight and unhappy about it will disagree with these statements: losing weight is hard, losing weight is a battle, losing weight is a long, difficult process, losing weight is not for the faint of heart!

You Can Do It! - Menstrual Cycles |
||
| Hello Special Friends, All of us at Diet Coaches send you our respect and our confidence that you can lose weight and keep it off! We believe in you. We believe that if you give up some of the food that you would "normally" eat in a day you will see a weight loss. We don't ask you to eat certain foods or follow certain plans but to cut back on the quantity of food you put in your body. Friends, we don't often do this but today we're going to address more specifically our female weight losers. Male friends, you can read on and learn more about women (maybe??), or you can see if some of our same "tracking" suggestions will help you in your understanding of your own patterns. You can also leave us here and make a plan to keep yourself focused and on track for today. Take each eating opportunity one at a time and plan. Plan to eat a smaller amount of food, today. You can do it! Ladies, are you aware of the role your menstrual cycle and premenstrual hormones play in your ability to lose weight, maintain a weight loss or gain weight? Are you aware of the role your cycle plays in your energy levels? If you're not, you need to be. Because each of us is unique and special, I can't tell you that what's true for one or some of us will be true for all of us. I can and do encourage you to be aware or even track on paper what happens for you mentally, physically, and food-wise for a month or several months. You may find that you have a super high energy level for one week within the month. If that's true take advantage of that and make that the week that you put even more effort into eating less and exercising more. You may find that prior to your cycle you crave certain foods, make a plan for including them in your food choices and giving up other foods. Always, be aware of quantities. You may find you have a couple of nights of insomnia prior to your period starting. Make a plan to use that time to journal or read and gain a better insight on the patterns of your eating. You may find you are super depressed on the first day of your period or toward the end of your period, give yourself a break. Plan to be gentle with yourself that day. Don't overeat and add to your depression just be gentle with yourself. You may find yourself getting really angry at silly things prior to your period starting. Make a plan to recognize it's your hormones and that they don't need to be fed in their irritableness. Ladies, work with your hormones not against them. Don't deny yourself chocolate if that's what your body wants. Just limit the amount of chocolate you consume. Don't give your hormones any more power...they have plenty. Learn about them and understand the patterns of your cycle and make a plan. This is part of the learning that will set you free to achieve and maintain your weight loss. You can lose weight and keep it off. Understanding what you and your body go through each month is a part of achieving that success. Start being aware of your body today. With respect and hormones, Coach Joy |

You Can Do It! - Sunday Faith Edition |
||
| Hello Special Friends, It is with great joy and hope that we bring you our special Sunday Faith Edition of the Diet Coaches e-letter. We believe. We believe in an Almighty God for which nothing is too difficult. Matthew 19:26 says - But Jesus looked at them and said to them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. Does losing weight seem like an impossible task for you? Whether you have a lot of weight to lose or the last 5 lbs, losing weight can seem like an impossibility. Have you ever cried out like I did "please, dear God, help me." I used to lay in bed as a teenager and challenge God, "God, if you wanted I could wake up skinny. Won't you do that for me?" I still believe God could wake any of us up skinny if He wanted too. He is a God of the impossible. I also believe however that God wants us to learn somethings and we won't learn them if He wakes us up skinny. Do you think it's a coincindence that sin entered the earth through a "forbidden food?" Do you think it's a coincindence that the Israelites were often incurring God's wrath because they wanted to eat one thing and God provided another (Numbers 11)? Do you think it's a coincindence that Satan'sfirst command to Jesus after being in the desert 40 days and nights was to turn stones into bread (Matthew 4)? Or that one of the ways Jesus often sought the Father's will was through fasting? Friends, God wants to be the focus of our appetites. He wanted it for Adam and Eve, the Israelites, He wants it for us today. Our appetites aren't limited to food. We could have an appetite for money, power, material things. All of these things including food take our eyes off an all knowing, all loving God and put them on ourselves. We and what we want become our own idols. Food becomes more importance than respecting our "fearfully and wonderfully made" bodies. Satisfying ourselves with extra large portions of food becomes more important than trusting God to satisfy us with smaller portions. Did you read that? Do you think it's impossible for God to satisfy you with less food than you're used to? Are you willing to call God a liar?I'm not. Hebrews 11:6 states "without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." Friends, seek God today. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you and provide for you. Tell Him you believe in Him and that you're sorry for lusting after food to satisfy you. Tell Him you want to grow in Him and His desires for you as you lose your extra weight. Tell Him, you'll be trusting Him this week to provide for you and satisfy you with less food. Tell Him, you want to respect the body He "fearfully and wonderfully made" for you. Tell Him, you have faith and eat this week like you do. 1 Peter 5:7 shares this truth with us: "cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you." Friends, He cares. He cares about you and your desires to lose weight. We do too. Have a great weight loss week. With respect and faith, Coach Joy Scripture verses are from the New King James. |
